SUMMARY:
DESCRIPTION:On April 7\, 2026\, from 2:00-3:00 p.m. ET\, the National Alzheimer’s and Dementia Resource Center will host the webinar\, Meeting Communities Where They Are: Innovative Approaches to Dementia Supports and Services. A description of the webinar and registration information follows. \nAddressing the unique support and service needs of communities is central to effective home- and community-based dementia care. While many dementia-specific interventions are grounded in research and best practices\, they often require thoughtful adaptation to effectively reach underserved populations. Supports and services for people living with dementia\, their caregivers\, and their communities are most impactful when tailored to reflect cultural values\, language\, and lived experiences. \nThis webinar will feature two specialized\, community-based dementia programs\, each focused on an underserved population—African American and Korean American communities. Both programs have adapted their approaches to reduce barriers to service acceptance\, increase engagement\, and address unmet needs. Together\, they will demonstrate strategies for delivering strengths-based\, dementia-specific services and supports while navigating and overcoming challenges. \nAdditional information about this webinar and the registration form can be found here: 04-07-2026 NADRC Webinar-Meeting-Communities-Where-They-Are-Innovative-Approaches-to-Dementia-Supports-and-Services \nReminder: \nMarch 17\, 2026\, from 2:00-3:00 p.m. ET\, Addressing Food Insecurity for People Living Alone with Dementia. Register here: 03-17-2026 NADRC Webinar- Addressing-Food-Insecurity-for-People-Living-Alone-with-Dementia \n  \nPlease note: \n\nNational Alzheimer’s and Dementia Resource Center (NADRC) webinars are free of charge and open to the public.\nNADRC webinars are recorded and will be available for viewing at https://nadrc.acl.gov/.\nPre-registration is required to attend the live webinars.\nClosed captioning is available during the live event and is included in the recording for all NADRC webinars.\n\n\nIf you have questions\, please email NADRC-Webinars@rti.org.

SUMMARY:Specialized Aging Support: Dementia Care for People Living With Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) at High Risk of and Living With Dementia.
DESCRIPTION:Join the ACL-funded National Alzheimer’s and Dementia Resource Center (NADRC) for their upcoming webinar\, Specialized Aging Support: Dementia Care for People Living With Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) at High Risk of and Living With Dementia. \nPeople living with I/DD face barriers to accessing quality services that support their ability to remain in their communities. As they age\, their needs often become more significant — especially if they experience Alzheimer’s disease and other related dementias (ADRD). As individuals with Down syndrome and other I/DD diagnoses face everyday challenges associated with the onset of ADRD (which they do at a staggering rate)\, they also struggle with providers and caregivers who may not know what supports will be needed in the future — or how to access them. \nThrough its Specialized Aging Support program\, the Arc Jacksonville launched services in support of its community\, including an interactive day center for those living with and at high risk of dementia\, caregiver support and education\, and trainings focused on I/DD and dementia. This program has established a more dementia-capable workforce that is equipped for this next phase of life for many individuals living with I/DD. \nPresenters\n\nAbbey Such\, OTR/L\, Director of the Adult Day Programs\, The Arc Jacksonville\nEunice Howard\, Receptionist and Accounts Payable\, The Arc Jacksonville\, and family member of Specialized Aging Support program participant\n\nNADRC webinars are free of charge and open to the public\, although pre-registration is required. Webinars are recorded and made available on the NADRC website for future viewing. Closed captioning is available during the webinar and will be included in the recording.\nIf you have questions\, please email NADRC-Webinars@rti.org

SUMMARY:NADRC Webinar: Cognitive Stimulation Therapy Programs - Directly Supporting People Living with Dementia
DESCRIPTION:Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST) programs are providing direct support to people living with dementia (PLWD) including those with mild cognitive impairment (MCI)\, Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD)\, primary progressive aphasia (PPA)\, and intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). The Administration for Community Living’s (ACL) Alzheimer’s Disease Programs Initiative (ADPI) grantees are expanding their services to meet a variety of needs through these evidence-based/informed\, small group programs. Through virtual and in-person sessions held over 7 weeks\, participants strengthen their retained cognitive abilities and decrease depressive symptoms\, while gaining confidence and social connection\, and improving their well-being. In this webinar\, two organizations will highlight their CST programs while sharing successes\, challenges\, and lessons learned. CaringKind\, a community-based organization in New York City\, delivers CST both virtually and in person with an ongoing CST-Maintenance program. CareLink in Rhode Island delivers CST as an outpatient service delivered by skilled clinicians. Having identified gap areas for specialized populations\, CareLink is delivering an adapted version of CST for PLWD and IDD and individuals with PPA. Both organizations are seeking to build sustainable models of care through efficient service delivery models that don’t compromise quality care. \nDirect questions to NADRC-Webinars@rti.org \nPlease note: \n\nNADRC webinars are free and open to the public.\nNADRC webinars are recorded and will be posted at https://nadrc.acl.gov/.\nClosed captioning is available during the webinar and included in all recordings.

SUMMARY:NADRC Webinar: Unique Approaches to Support Brain Health and Reduce Risk through Education\, Exercise\, Diet\, and Art
DESCRIPTION:On May 22\, 2024\, from 2:00-3:00 p.m. ET\, the National Alzheimer’s and Dementia Resource Center will host the webinar\, Unique Approaches to Support Brain Health and Reduce Risk through Education\, Exercise\, Diet\, and Art. A description of the webinar and registration information follows. \nHelping people understand how to take care of their brains is an impactful way to reduce the risk of developing dementia long term. Dementia risk reduction activities show promise in improving brain health and reducing or delaying the onset of dementia. Modifiable risk factors — such as maintaining a healthy lifestyle and managing long term health conditions — play a role in promoting brain health and reducing dementia risk. In this webinar\, the Administration for Community Living will provide an overview of the benefits of reducing risk and supporting brain health and will review the Brain Health & Aging resources that can be used to educate the public about brain health as we age. The resources include a PowerPoint presentation\, a consumer-friendly educational handout\, and pre and post-test surveys. Participants will also learn about the We Program based at GrownUps in Puerto Rico\, which was created specifically for people at-risk of developing dementia. The program combines education\, exercise\, cooking workshops\, arts\, and horticulture into a fun and social opportunity for people to learn risk reduction techniques and take control of their brain health. You will learn more about how this program has successfully recruited participants\, the impact it has had\, and creative strategies for sustaining the program. \n

SUMMARY:Sustainability: Keeping Dementia Programs Active Years After Initial Funding Ends
DESCRIPTION:On April 9\, 2024\, from 2-3 p.m. ET\, the National Alzheimer’s and Dementia Resource Center will host the webinar\, Sustainability: Keeping Dementia Programs Active Years After Initial Funding Ends. \nFunding for dementia programming is often time limited\, and early planning and flexibility is necessary to have the best possible outcomes for sustaining successful programs. In this webinar\, participants will hear about two programs that have been sustained years after initial program funding ended. Southern Maine Agency on Aging received funding for an ACL dementia grant in 2014. During their grant period\, they developed an expanded Meals on Wheels assessment that integrated questions related to dementia. The assessment proved successful in helping to identify people living with dementia in the community and has been maintained since the end of the grant project in 2017. Southern Maine Agency on Aging will talk about the impact of ACL funding and how they worked to maintain their original program. Michigan Department of Community Health was awarded an ACL dementia grant in 2016. During their grant period\, they implemented caregiver trainings focused on basic dementia information\, brain health and behavior\, and activities for people living with dementia. After the project ended in 2020\, the Department of Community Health worked with the Michigan Area Agencies on Aging (AAA) to adapt the training and handed over management and dissemination of the trainings to the AAA network. In this webinar\, participants will learn about how the caregiver training was adapted and how it is being sustained by AAAs. \nLearn more and register today!  \nIf you have questions\, please email NADRC-Webinars@rti.org. Registration is required. This webinar will be recorded and posted to https://nadrc.acl.gov/.
