DESCRIPTION:Join the ACL-funded National Alzheimer’s and Dementia Resource Center (NADRC) for their upcoming webinar\, Specialized Aging Support: Dementia Care for People Living With Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) at High Risk of and Living With Dementia. \nPeople living with I/DD face barriers to accessing quality services that support their ability to remain in their communities. As they age\, their needs often become more significant — especially if they experience Alzheimer’s disease and other related dementias (ADRD). As individuals with Down syndrome and other I/DD diagnoses face everyday challenges associated with the onset of ADRD (which they do at a staggering rate)\, they also struggle with providers and caregivers who may not know what supports will be needed in the future — or how to access them. \nThrough its Specialized Aging Support program\, the Arc Jacksonville launched services in support of its community\, including an interactive day center for those living with and at high risk of dementia\, caregiver support and education\, and trainings focused on I/DD and dementia. This program has established a more dementia-capable workforce that is equipped for this next phase of life for many individuals living with I/DD. \nPresenters\n\nAbbey Such\, OTR/L\, Director of the Adult Day Programs\, The Arc Jacksonville\nEunice Howard\, Receptionist and Accounts Payable\, The Arc Jacksonville\, and family member of Specialized Aging Support program participant\n\nNADRC webinars are free of charge and open to the public\, although pre-registration is required. DESCRIPTION:On February 11\, 2026\, from 2:00-3:00 p.m. ET\, the National Alzheimer’s and Dementia Resource Center will host the webinar\, Living Longer: The Increasing Need for Dementia Care and Support for People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. A description of the webinar and registration information follows. \nAdvances in medicine\, technology\, and community living are extending the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).  As a result\, individuals with IDD are now at greater risk of developing dementia.  Dementia can present differently in people with IDD\, and supporting individuals with both conditions often requires specialized knowledge and skills from healthcare professionals and aging and disability service providers. \nThis webinar will provide participants with an overview of IDD and dementia including prevalence\, signs and symptoms\, and assessing if a person with IDD may be developing dementia. Participants will also learn practical considerations for supporting people with IDD and dementia with an emphasis on enhancing workforce training. DESCRIPTION:On March 17\, 2026\, from 2:00-3:00 p.m. ET\, the National Alzheimer’s and Dementia Resource Center will host the webinar\, Addressing Food Insecurity for People Living Alone with Dementia. A description of the webinar and registration information follows. \nNational data indicate that nearly one quarter of older Americans living alone have dementia. This population faces numerous challenges\, including food insecurity\, which is often worsened by cognitive impairment\, limited social support\, and physical isolation. Traditional senior meal delivery programs are not always designed to address the unique needs of individuals with cognitive impairment\, who may have difficulty safely storing\, preparing\, or cooking meals. \nThis webinar will provide insight into an innovative\, volunteer-based food delivery model created to better support seniors living alone with dementia.
