SUMMARY:Applying the National Strategy to Support Family Caregivers to Dementia Programs
DESCRIPTION:On November 1\, 2023\, from 3-4 p.m. ET\, the National Alzheimer’s and Dementia Resource Center will host the webinar\, Applying the National Strategy to Support Family Caregivers to Dementia Programs.  A description of the webinar and registration information follows. \nThe 2022 National Strategy to Support Family Caregivers was developed to support caregivers of all ages\, regardless of where they live or their specific caregiving situation. The Strategy includes five overarching goals and 350 corresponding actions\, while not addressing specific populations of caregivers. SUMMARY:Healthy Brain Initiative (HBI) Collaborative Pre-Conference Workshop at GSA
DESCRIPTION:On Wednesday\, November 8\, 2023\, 1–5pm\, the HBI Collaborative is hosting a GSA 2023 pre-conference workshop titled “Engaging Diverse and Inclusive Audiences with the Healthy Brain Initiative Road Map.” This workshop will focus on the summer-released fourth edition of the Healthy Brain Initiative Road Map. Workshop participants will learn more about the equity-focused actions in the Road Map and strategies to achieve those actions. \nThrough a mixture of presentations\, small group activities\, and discussion\, participants will leave the workshop with an increased understanding of the HBI Road Map and with tangible skills and resources to improve their ability to engage diverse and inclusive audiences. SUMMARY:Caregiving Conversations: Alzheimer's in Color
DESCRIPTION:On Wednesday December 6\, from 12-1 pm\, NYU Work Life will be hosting a virtual conversation on Zoom. In continuation of our exploration into the impact of Alzheimer’s Disease and other dementias on families of color\, the second installment of the series will feature Professor Jasmine Travers from NYU’s Rory Meyers School of Nursing. Professor Travers will share her research on improving health outcomes and reducing health disparities in vulnerable older adult groups\, focusing on ways to address systemic racism in long-term care. \nIn our first session\, we heard from Professor Yvonne Latty and her podcast Alzheimer’s in Color\, which drew attention to healthcare inequities in communities of color. In our second session\, Professor Travers will share current policy suggestions aimed at improving health outcomes for vulnerable older adults and reducing disparities in long-term care. Professors Travers and Latty will discuss suggestions to make impactful change through the delivery of long-term services and supports.

DESCRIPTION:On Tuesday\, November 28\, 2023 (10:00–1:00 PT; 1:00-4:00 ET)\, Education Development Center (EDC) will host the National Dementia Care Collaborative (NDCC) Autumn Summit\, The CMS GUIDE Model: Choices for Implementing Evidence-Based Dementia Care. This event is made possible by the generous support The John A. Hartford Foundation\, from a grant through UCLA\, and Summit Co-Sponsor\, Alzheimer’s Association. \nDuring the NDCC Autumn Summit\, presenters will discuss the Guiding an Improved Dementia Experience (GUIDE) Model from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
