Impact of Systems on Health Equity – a virtual meeting hosted by the National Academy of Medicine Culture of Health Program

On March 9-10, 2023, from 9 am-12:30 pm ET, the National Academy of Medicine Culture of Health Program will host a virtual meeting to examine:

• the significance of understanding the history and systems impact of oppression, racism, and widening racial health disparities in light of current social and political contexts
• the social construction of race and ethnicity, shifting definitions of race and ethnicity over time, and how existing data and racial and ethnic definitions can cause harm and misrepresentation of diverse populations
• how structural and systemic racism moves through systems to drive health outcomes, and illustrative examples of levers of systemic change for advancing health equity within and across racial and ethnic populations
• the challenges, opportunities, and potential impact of a related forthcoming publication under the Culture of Health Program
